오늘의 한국을 만나기 - SBS 방송국, 서울 타워

아침 일찍 부터 서둘렀습니다.
오늘의 체험학습은 목동에 위치한 SBS 방송국에서 시작을 하게 되었거든요.
SBS 목동 본사와 탄현 스튜디오까지 견학을 하려면 상당한 거리를 이동해야 하기 때문에 아침 부터 서둘러야 한다는 것을 모두들 잊지 않고 있었던 모양입니다.
정시 출발! 하하하하~~

다행히 혼잡한 출근시간을 잘 피해서 목동 SBS 방송국에 잘 도착을 했습니다.
여기가~~ 방송국이군요. @..@ 띠융~~~~

로비에서 맞아주시는 분의 안내에 따라서 라디오 생방송이 진행중인 스튜디오를 볼 수 있었습니다.
현재 10시가 조금 지난 시각. 김창완씨가 진행하는 '아름다운 이 아침, 김창완 입니다' 방송이 쌩방으로 진행되고 있더군요. 스튜디오 밖에서 피디님의 안내로 김창완 아저씨와 눈인사를 꿈뻑 (^^)(__)

그렇게 인사를 주고 받고 스튜디오를 나오려는 찰나! 중간에 잠깐 광고가 나가는 시간이었는지 문을 열고 환영을 해 주시네요. 막간을 이용해서 기념 촬영에 성공을 했습니다. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

뚝뚝이 아저씨와 함께


생방송 중이라서 바쁘셨을텐데 아이들을 위해서 특별해 사진촬영에 까지 응해 주신 김창완 아저씨께 감사의 말씀을 드립니다. 그땐 너무 당황스러워서 인사드리는 것도 깜빡!! 했네요 ^^;;

견학을 마치고 나오는 길에 피디님께서 잠시 부르십니다. 방송에 사용할 오프닝으로 우리 학생들의 목소리를 사용하고 싶다고 하시네요. 하하하~ 이렇게 좋은 기회를 주시다니!
바로 녹음실로 들어가서 녹음 시작~ 했습니다. 필리핀 친구들은 영어로, 한국친구들은 우리말로 녹음을 마쳤습니다. SBS 파워FM(107.7) 에서 매일 아침 10시에 우리 학생들의 목소리를 들으실 수 있을꺼에요. 혹시 들어보신 분 계시면 댓글 부탁요! 사실.. 저도~ 아직은 못들어봤거든요. ㅡㅡ;;

아아.. 하나 둘, 하나 둘.. 지금은 녹음 중


방송국에서의 바쁜(!) 일정을 마치고 경기도 탄현에 위치한 SBS 스튜디오로 향했습니다.
탄현 촬영장에서는 지금 방송중인 몇몇 드라마들이 촬영을 하고 있었는데요. 드라마 세트장을 둘러볼 수 있었습니다.

방송국 견학을 마치고 한강변을 따라 한참을 달려 남산에 도착을 했습니다.
엊그제 남산 한옥 마을에 왔을때도 느꼈던 생각이지만, 서울같은 이런 큰 도시가 높은 산들로 둘어쌓여 있고 그 한복판에 도 이렇게 높은 산이 있다는 것이 참 신기할 따름입니다. 게다가 바다라고 해도 믿을만큼 큰 강까지~ ㅎㅎㅎ

오늘은 케이블카를 이용해 남산 정상까지 올라가 보기로 했습니다. 물론! N서울타워도 잊지 않았죠.

필리핀 학생들과 함께 서울의 곳곳을 돌아다니게 되면서 사실 그동안 모르고 있었던, 아니 느끼지 못했던 서울의 다양한 모습을 발견하게 되곤 합니다.
아름다운 강과 멋진 산, 세계 어디에 내놓아도 손색이 없을 아름다운 거리의 풍경들을 함께 보고 느끼며 멀리서 온 우리의 이웃에게 이런 서울의 모습을 소개할 수 있다는 사실이 참 기쁘고 즐겁네요.

하루의 일정을 무사히 마치고 돌아가는 길이 더욱 가벼운 건, 바로 그 이유가 아닐까 싶습니다.

새로운 것들에 대한 즐거움

서울 불암초등학교는 서울 노원구 불암산 기슭에 자리잡고 있습니다.
사실 불암초등학교가 필리핀의 미리암 초등학교와 자매결연을 맺고, 학생들을 직접 교류할 수 있게 되기까지는 교장선생님을 비롯한 여러 선생님들의 의지와 노력이 밑거름이 되었습니다.

지난 해 (2008년) 여름 교장선생님과 8명의 불암초 선생님들이 직접 필리핀을 방문하셔서 직접 협의를 하시고, 협정서가 만들어지기 까지 참 많은 과정을 거치게 되면서 한편으로는 큰 기대감도 있었던 것이 사실이었습니다.
물론 지금은 그 막연한 '기대감' 이 큰 보람이 되고 있지만 말이죠.

앞으로 매년 불암초등학교와 미리암의 어린 학생들이 교류를 하면서 작게는 개인간의 '좋은 친구' 를 만나는 일에서 부터 크게는 다음 세대 양국의 우호 증진에도 적잖은 보탬이 되지 않을까 하는 '욕심' 을 가져 봅니다. ^^

오늘은 필리핀 학생들이 한국의 전통문화를 체험하는 날입니다.
좀 어색할 수도 있는데, 그래도 모두들 곱게 한복을 차려 입고 큰 절하는 법 부터 배워봅니다.
역시 동방예의지국에 와서는 우선 '인사 예절' 부터 배워야 하는 것이 순서겠죠. ^^




앞에서 설명하시는 선생님의 설명을 듣는 학생들의 모습이 무척 진지하기까지 합니다.
한복도 제법 잘 어울리네요 ㅎㅎ

큰 절 하는 법을 배우고 난 다음, 기다리던 '간식' 시간입니다.
오늘은 간식도 수업 내용에 맞게 전형적인 '한국식' 으로 준비가 되었습니다. 바로~~~ 떡과 식혜 랍니다.
먹는 것 앞에서는 뭐~ 한국과 필리핀의 거리가 한껏~ 좁혀지네요.
그러고 보니 미리암 학생들이 젓가락도 잘 사용하더군요. 흔치 않은 일인데 좀 놀랐습니다.



자~ 이제 배도 채웠으니~ 한 판 놀아볼까요?
오늘의 전통 놀이 체험은 바로 윷놀이 입니다. 소그룹으로 나눠서 몇 판씩 게임을 했는데 미리암 학생들이 이 윷놀이 룰을 익히고 난 후로는 경기가 무척 과열되는 조짐이..... ^^
 

윷놀이 (Yut-nori)

Yut (sometimes romanized as nyout or yoot) is a traditional board game played in Korea, especially during Korean New Year.

The game is played between two partners or two teams who play in turns. Yut is a popular family game. There is no limit in the number of participants in a game, which means that the game can be played by a considerable group. When played with large groups it is not uncommon for some group members never to cast the sticks: they still participate discussing the strategy.

The start of the game is determined by each team casting the yut sticks. The team with the highest score starts first.

Each team then casts the sticks in turn, then moves a mal according to the score achieved. One turn usually consists of only one cast. However, a player achieving a yut or mo earns an extra cast for the turn; if he/she casts a yut or mo at the second cast, he/she earns an extra cast again, so there is no limit to the number of times a player can cast again before the end of a turn, provided he or she keeps casting yuts or mos. The respective scores can be played separately if wished, but a score earned from one cast cannot be split into two moves—for example, a geol (advance three steps) cannot be split into a do (one step) and a gae (two steps).

The mals travel around the board and can move forward only. However, when landing on one of the big stations (in the corner and the centre), the team can choose to take the shorter way should they wish to. There are four possible courses.

If a mal lands on a station occupied by the opponent's team, the opponent's mal is removed from the course and returned to the starting position, and the current player is allowed to cast again.

If a mal lands on a station occupied by the own team, these mals can form a group and travel together from that point on.  However, this bears a risk: If an opponent lands their mal on a station occupied by a group of mals of the opponent, all mals in the group are removed from the course.

For example, if one cast two yuts and one do at his/her first turn in the game, possible moves would include (see The Stations below for the station names):

  • Put a mal on the board at the yut station (uses the first yut score); advance to mo (uses the do score), then to sok-yut (uses the second yut).
  • Put a mal on the board at the yut station (uses first yut score); put another mal on the board at the same yut station (uses the second yut score), causing the two mals to move together from then on; advance them to mo (uses the do).
  • Put a mal on the board at the yut station (uses the first yut); advance to duet-geol (uses the second yut), then to duet-yut (uses the do).

The game is won by the team who bring all their mals home first, that is complete the course with all their mals. A course is completed if a mal reaches the station where the game is started (cham-meoki). Yut is often played for three or more wins.

Once Upon a Time in KOREA

한국에서의 첫날을 잘 보냈는지, 모두들 밝은 얼굴로 등교를 했습니다.
몇몇 학생들은 홈스테이 가정에서 실내 온도를 '너무' 올려주셔서 밤에 잘때 너무 더웠다고 하더군요.
아마도 한국날씨가 필리핀 학생들에게는 좀 춥지 않을까~ 염려하셨던 홈스테이 가정의 배려(!!) 가 아니었나 싶습니다. 어쨌든... 좀 더웠다고 하네요 ^^

첫번째 공식 행사인, 환영식이 있었습니다.
방송을 통해 전교 어린이들에게 인사를 할 수 있는 기회가 있었는데요. 학교 전체에 이렇게 방송을 통해서 조회를 할 수 있다는 점이 무척 인상깊게 느껴집니다.

한명 한명 카메라 앞으로 나와서 인사도 하고, 전교 어린이 회장의 환영사에 답사도 하는 모습이 제법 그럴듯해 보입니다. 학교와 나라를 대표하는 모습들일테니 말이죠.



오늘은 한국의 문화와 역사를 살펴볼 예정입니다. 여러가지 프로그램 중에 경복궁(Gyeong-Bok-Gung or Gyeongbok Palace) 과 인사동(Insa-Dong), 그리고 남산 한옥마을(Hanok Village)을 선택했습니다.

Gyeong-Bok-Gung (or Gyeongbok Palace, 경복궁)

Gyeongbokgung also known as Gyeongbok Palace is a palace located in northern Seoul, South Korea. It was the main and largest palace of the Joseon Dynasty and one of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon Dynasty.

The palace was originally constructed in 1394 by King Taejo and "Gyeongbokgung" was named by minister Jeong Do-jeon. Gyeongbokgung was continuously expanded during the reign of King Taejong and King Sejong the Great, but part of the palace was burnt down during the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598).

During the regency of Daewon-gun in 1867, the buildings were reconstructed and formed a massive 330-building complex with 5,792 rooms. Standing on 4,414,000 square feet (410,000 square meters) of land, it was a symbol of majesty for the Korean people and the home of the royal family. In 1895, after the assassination of Empress Myeongseong by Japanese agents, her husband, Emperor Gojong left the palace and the imperial family would never return.

In 1911, the government of Japan demolished all but 10 buildings during the period of Japanese occupation, constructing the Japanese General Government Building for the Governor-General of Korea in front of the throne hall.

At the end of the Second World War, major buildings on the site included Geunjeongjeon, the Imperial throne room (national treasure number 223), and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion (national treasure number 224), which stands in an artificial lotus lake, resting on 48 granite pillars. The pavilion is depicted on the 10,000 won Korean banknotes (1983-2002 Series).

Today the palace is open to the public, and houses the National Folk Museum of Korea. The National Museum of Korea was there too, until it was relocated to Yongsan-gu in 2005.

Archaeological work has brought 330 building foundations to light. The main gate to the palace, called Gwanghwamun, is now being restored to its original state, to be completed in 2009.

Three Big Smile at the Palace!



경복궁 투어를 무사히! 마치고 인사동으로 향했습니다.
경복궁이 역사속 왕을 위한 공간이라고 한다면, 인사동은 현재와 과거가 만나는 공간이라고 할 수 있죠.

인사동에서 제일 먼저 한 일은 바로~ 점심식사 ㅎㅎㅎ
오늘의 점심 식사는 바지락 칼국수 입니다. 뽀나쓰~ 로 만두도 하나씩 ^^;;;

점심을 마치고 본격적인 인사동 투어(Insa-Dong Tour) 가 시작되었습니다.
사실 저도 무척 오랫만에 인사동엘 온것 같은데요. 그래서 그런지 제가 봐도 신기하고, 사고 싶은 물건들도 많더라구요. 그래서 기념이 될 만한 것들 중에 저렴한 녀석으로 몇개 골라봤습니다.

남산 한옥마을은 지하철 3호선 충무로역 부근에 있습니다. 충무로역을 매번 지나다니면서도 사실 그곳에 한옥마을이 있었다는 걸 최근에야 알게 되었었네요. 제가 너무 무관심 했던 걸까요? ㅡㅡ;;

특히 이 한옥마을에는 서울 정도 600년을 기념해서 마련된 타임캡슐이 있는 곳이기도 하죠. 서울정도 천년이 되는 해에 그 타임캡슐을 개봉한다고 합니다. 그럼~ 몇년이 남은거죠??

5천년이나 된 우리나라를, 그리고 600년이 넘는 서울을 배우고 이해하기에 사실 하루동안의 투어는 너무도 짧은 시간이었을지 모릅니다.

다만, 이런 작은 기회들을 통해서 전부를 다 알지는 못하더라도, 서로를 이해하는데 조금의 보탬이 되었으면 하는 바램입니다. 그게 더 중요한일 아닐까요?

오늘 하루동안 머~~~~언 옛날의 한국의 모습을 보여줄 수 있어서 참 좋았습니다.

한국에서의 첫 식사 - 비빔밥!

그토록! 준비하며 기다리던 미리암 학생들의 한국 방문이 드뎌!! 시작이 되었습니다.

프로그램 준비에서 부터 비자 발급, 출입국 절차까지 고려해야 했던 일들이 한두가지 아니었지만, 무사히~ 인천공항 입국장으로 들어선 학생들의 모습을 보니 일단 한숨 돌릴 수 있을 것 같습니다. 뭐~ 이제 부터 시작인데 말이죠 ^^

이번 프로그램에 참여한 MCGS(Miriam College Grade School) 의 학생들은 총 17명 입니다. MCGS의 인솔교사 2분까지 포함하면 총 19명이 되는 셈이죠.
여기에 불암초등학교의 학생들도 동수로 참여를 하게 되고 프로그램 담당 선생님들까지, 이번 프로그램에 참여하게 되는 전체 인원이 40명이 훌쩍~ 넘는 인원이됩니다.

4시간 남짓한 비행시간이었지만, 아침 일찍 부터 서둘렀다면 제법 피곤하지 않을까 싶었지만, 한국이라는 나라를 만나는 설레임 때문이었는지 학생들의 모습속에서는 전혀 피곤함을 느낄 수 없었습니다. 역쉬~~~ ㅎㅎ

여름이 한창인 4월의 필리핀 날씨와는 달리 한국의 4월은, 아직은 아침 저녁으로는 쌀쌀함이 가시지 않은 날씨이기 때문인지 다들 '무장' 을 제법 단단히 하고 왔네요. 한국의 봄바람을 한번 쐬게 해 주어야 할텐데 말이죠 ^^

Say Bibimbam!! - That's 1st meal time in Korea


한국에서의 첫번째 식사는 바로 '비빔밥' 이었습니다.
공항에서 학교까지는 1시간 30분 이상 가야할 거리이기 때문에 저녁식사는 인천공항의 식당에서 '양푼비빔밥' 으로 하고 출발을 하기로 했던 것이죠.

허거걱~~ 그런데 고추장을 따로 설명해줬어야 한다는 것을 몰랐네요. 모두들 그 고추장이 케첩인줄 알고 듬뿍~~~ 넣고 신나게 비벼서 입에 넣는 순간! @,.@ 허덜덜......................
조금 덜 비벼진 (흰 밥이 희끗희끗 살아? 있는) 부분으로 일단 저녁을 해결 할 수 있었습니다.
첫술에 배부를수 없다고 하더니, 첫술부터 너무 혹독하게!! 한국을 체험하게 되는군요. ㅋㅋㅋ

아주 기억에 남는 저녁식사를 마치고, 이제 학교로 출발을 합니다.
학교에는 오늘 부터 학생들에게 홈스테이를 제공할 호스트패밀리가 기다리고 있거든요.

앞으로 10일간의 한국 여정이 기대가 됩니다.

Bi-Bim-Bam (비빔밥)
Bibimbap is a popular Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice" or "mixed meal."

Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot.

Vegetables commonly used in bibimbap include julienned cucumber, zucchini, mu (daikon), mushrooms, doraji (bellflower root), and gim, as well as spinach, soybean sprouts, and gosari (bracken fern stems). Dubu (tofu), either plain or sautéed, or a leaf of lettuce may be added, or chicken or seafood may be substituted for beef. For visual appeal, the vegetables are often placed so that adjacent colors complement each other.

2009 불암-미리암 교환학습 프로그램 (Korea)

2009 불암-미리암 교환학습 프로그램 (2009 Bulam-Miriam Exchange Program) 이 4월 5일 부터 10일간 서울 불암초등학교에서 개최됩니다.

불암초등학교와 미리암 초등학교는 2008년 8월 양교 간 체결된 협약(MOA) 에 따라 매년 20여명의 학생들을 교환하는 학습 프로그램을 진행하고 있습니다.

본 행사를 위해 지난 1월 불암초등학교의 12명의 학생들이 필리핀 퀘존의 미리암 초등학교를 방문하여 학교와 현지인 가정의 홈스테이를 통해 필리핀의 문화와 생활을 직접 체험한 바 있습니다.

특히 한-비 수교 60주년을 맞이하는 시점에서 이루어지게 되는 이번 미리암 학생들의 한국 방문 역시 양국간 어린 학생들이 서로 다른 문화를 직접 체험하고 배우게 됨으로써 학생 개인적으로 뿐만 아니라, 양국간의 우호증진에 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 기대합니다.

I am Althea. :) I'm turning 13 this July and I am really looking forward to my stay with you. I am really excited for my first trip to South Korea. I'm confident that I'll be safe with you and I feel very lucky to be on this program. :) Thank you for being my host family. :)

I am really excited and nervous at the same time in meeting you, my korean family. I hope that my stay with you will be a rewarding experience for me and for you.  Thank you for your kindness and generosity in accommodating us. I know that you will be giving us a friendly and caring environment and that I am in good hands. My mom tutors Korean students here in the Philippines and she said that Koreans are very friendly and respectful people. I am looking forward to see you on April 5. I hope that this will be a fun, memorable and worhtwile experience with my Korean family.

불암 초등학교 학부모 예비 모임 - Host Family Orientation

서울 불암초등학교를 방문하는 미리암 초등학교의 학생들을 맞이할 준비를 위해 학부모 예비 모임이 있었습니다.

17명의 학생과 2명의 인솔교사, 이렇게 총 19명이 방문하게 될 이번 프로그램에서 총 20곳의 가정에서 홈스테이 프로그램에 참여를 해 주시게 됩니다.

사실 처음엔 문화와 기후 등이 다른 조건의 아이들을 프로그램 기간내내 돌봐주실 수 있는 홈스테이 가정이 얼마나 있을까 염려가 되었던 것도 사실이었는데, 이번 모임을 통해 제 염려가 괜한 기우였음을 알 수 있었던 자리였습니다. ^^

예비 모임을 통해 홈스테이가 단순히 외국에서 온 손님에게 숙식을 제공하는 행위가 아니라, 우리의 문화를 전달하는 민간외교관으로써의 역할을 하게 되는 것도 확인할 수 있었고, 무엇보다도 우리 문화를 배우러 온 외국의 손님을 우리 가정의 손님으로 맞이함으로써 우리 아이들이 우리와 문화가 다른 아이들과 함께 지내며 그들을 이해할 수 있는 기회를 얻게 되는 교육적인 효과도 기대할 수 있다는 점에서 한껏 기대가 되는 것도 사실입니다.

개인적인 욕심!! 으로는~ 언어와 문화가 다르고, 기후와 생활환경의 차이가 있겠지만, 이번 기회를 통해서 앞으로의 한국과 필리핀의 아이들이 서로를 이해하고 '우리와 다른 것' 을 보다 긍정적으로 받아들이게 됨으로써 양국의 '미래'가 지금 보다는 좀 더 가까워질 수 있는 계기가 될 수 있었으면 하는 바램입니다.

한창~ 손님맞을 준비로 바쁘실 홈스테이 가정에게... 화이팅 한번 외쳐 드립니다. ^^
